還記得，農曆正月初九、玉皇大帝誕辰，萬人空巷。人的擁擠蘊潤出了溫度，薰香煙霧、金紙店攤，成了最賣力的銷售員。清晨鐘聲響徹雲霄，堆積如山的供品，堆滿在地民眾的感恩與寄望。聲音環繞著信徒的虔誠，濃濃地；在新的一年，帶來心的感動。

​Every lunar calendar January 9th comes the Jade Emperor’s birthday. People heat the temple with crowded warmth. Smoking incense and the gold papers promote the ritual in a silent voice, along with the venders. Strikes on the Buddhist bell ring out to the heaven. Countless offerings at the shrine are devotion and wishes indeed. Sensational echoes in the temple would touch everyone’s heart and bless from the very beginning of the year.

獨特聲音從百年的電梯閉門那一刻開始，沿著纜繩與電梯空間的共鳴聲，由狹長的力量推往頂樓。隨著抵達，電梯門開啟了新的節奏；仿若日本時代的背景音樂，人聲，也鼎沸。

Standing in this century-old elevator, from the clank of the door closure, to the resonance of the cable in the air, you feel a strength pushing entire space up to the rooftop in a vertical manner. Door opened, familiar hustle and bustle turns into a retro theme, as if you return to the old times of Taiwan’s Japan Era.

秋祭大典的清晨，這天孔廟還在凌晨時分聚集了朝聖的民眾。聲音可以從釋奠典禮開始，晉鼓聲起了開端，中間段為迎神到送神的片段記錄，各種祭孔樂器與空氣間莊嚴的緬懷情緒，瀰漫了天際的微亮剎時。

The Autumn ceremony takes place early in the morning, when people are gathering inside for paying respects. From the very beginning of the event Jin Gu drum opens the first stage and during the middle movement we hear the music of welcoming melody for the most wise ancestor's spirit. Then all kinds of Confucius traditional music instruments appear in
solemn air and create a unique atmosphere.

徒步，從寂靜的林百貨，通過人行道，走入中正路土地銀行的騎樓。巨大、此起彼落的鳥鳴聲，驟然落下；忽遠忽近、高高低低、不絕於耳。於是，你不禁抬起了頭。

​Strolling along the sidewalk, from the tranquility of Hayashi Department Store into the corridor of Land Bank of Taiwan on Zhongzheng Road, you bump into chirps and tweets, one after another, hither and thither. The voices pouring down from the above of your head all at once with multiple frequencies, makes you couldn’t help but raise your head.

鶯料理的環境很奇特；具日式的空間感，卻緊鄰道教天壇。光線、水流在歌樂中恣意流動。稍進了草皮地，就在木屋之間流連忘返。這裡，是一個聲音與視覺上的東北亞。

那天下著小雨，繞進了台南火車站周邊的小巷子。除了特色小店面，那裡還有五六○年代的理髮店。午後時分，在巷中民居，沉穩、鄉土的電台聲，正悠然流淌，與騎樓下養著的鸚鵡相呼應著。偶而，大型車呼嘯而過。庶民的小生活，在每一個角落，發聲。

​A drizzling afternoon, lanes around Tainan Train Station, unique shops and retro salons await you there. Local broadcast from the residential echoes to the parrot at the corridor, sometimes with cars rumbling by. Thus, Tainan lifestyle exists hither and thither.

在東市場附近的青年路上，撞見城隍廟。廟前那一小段石磚道使然，行者的步伐輕慢了。進入莊嚴靜肅的廟宇，籤桶詩與擲筊的希望傳誦著；輕聲細語間，不自覺又走了一圈，繼續踏上未竟的旅程。

Chenghuang Temple is located on the Qingnian Road near East Market. Ahead of the temple comes the brick road, where visitors always amble. While pondering the future from the fortune telling and buabwei, through the whispers of hope, you hover around the solemn shrine once more and step on a journey to the unknown.
